laid up...

let me just say, being on bed rest sucks... and i've only been that way for 12 hours...

yesterday afternoon, i bent over to pick up my shoes, and it hurt really badly when i stood up... i laid down for a bit, and did some stretching hoping that would help... as the day went on, my back hurt worse and worse... last night, the pain got so bad that i took myself to the ER...

the preliminary diagnosis is that i have a slipped disc and the "beginnings of a pinched nerve" (they way i see it, it either is pinched, or it isn't, but that's what the doc said)... i've been placed on bed rest for the next two days, with absolutely no sitting and putting pressure on my tailbone... except when driving to the orthopaedist (who, i was told, will most likely extend my bed rest, and start me on physical therapy to correct the pinched nerve before it gets worse)...

they gave me some meds that are supposed to be great for this sort of thing, but so far, i can only tell that it works a little bit... i still feel a bit of pain (especially when i sneeze or cough)...

hopefully the orthopaedist will fix me right up and i'll still be able to make my trip to england next week... but if not, i suppose it is better to take care of my body than go galavanting around the world...

well... back to my confinement... wee...

Hey Gal,
Well, whats this, you getting all out of whack. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I used to think back pain was all psychosomatic, until alas, it happened to me.You can email me anytime you need to and do follow the doctors advise. And don't try to be brave and think you don't need the pain medicine.
Take it easy.

thats belle, I knew you were thinking of that word.

April,
I know how icky awful back pain is. I have been going to a chiropractor for several months now. Before that I tried steroid injections, an arthritis doctor, and physical therapy. The chiropractor has helped the most. I have found that a product called Biofreeze, pain relieving gel, really, really helps. It helps relieve the pain and helps heal the muscles around the sore areas.
Take care of yourself! Hope you get to go to England, but take care of yourself first!
Many, many (very gentle) hugs!!!
Jill

I agree, Miss Susan is kind of psycho-b****, but the rest of us wouldn't have said it that bluntly!! She's getting into that Southern lifestyle, y'all.

Miss April, you take care, give a call if you need to chit-chat. You have a whole midwest family here to help out.

How's it going today, lil princess? We always say we want to stay in bed all day, then when we have to, find out it really sucks.

Take care.
